EQUIPMENT
We run a fleet of four 3.5 tonne vans, which are all bought new
from Western, Glasgow and regularly maintained by Argyll Commercials.
Three are Mitsubishi Canters with Carrier Xarios freezer units,
movable partitions with thermostatic fans controlling rear chill temperatures, cab mounted temperature loggers and printers.
Our latest van is a SWB Mercedes Sprinter panel van with a similar
spec.
Our coldstore and freezer were constructed in 2005 by Forteiths
Refrigeration Services of Oban. Each units is approximately 20sqm.
HISTORY
Waltons of Oban was created on April Fools Day 2002. Eric Walton, our proprietor, was made redundant from his job as manager of Claymore Dairy's Oban depot. He
used his redundancy payment as a deposit on the first van. Elderly storage facilities were rented at the old dairy in Oban
and business flourished. Over the next three years two more vans were bought and expansion continued. On April Fools
Day 2005, having outgrown our old facilities, we moved into a modern building with a brand new coldstore and freezer. In May
2006, a new office was built at the depot.
